President of the University of Diyala Welcomes President of the University of Kufa to Chair Doctoral Viva at the College of Education for Human Sciences
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, the President of Diyala University formally welcomed Professor Alaa Naji Jassim, President of the University of Kufa, to preside over the doctoral viva voce at the College of Education for Human Sciences, held in Mustafa Jawad Hall.
The doctoral dissertation explored the critical role of sociolinguistics within the broader field of linguistic studies. The research emphasized the significance of examining the interplay between language and society, shedding light on how social variables influence language use and interaction. It presented an applied framework to analyze the impact of sociocultural contexts on discourse, with a particular focus on women’s discourse in the Holy Qur’an. The study examined both the linguistic dimensions—such as vocabulary, structure, and stylistic features—and the social contexts that shape such discourse.
At the conclusion of the session, the President of Diyala University expressed his gratitude to Professor Alaa Naji Jassim by presenting him with a formal letter of thanks and appreciation. Additionally, Professor Luay Sayhoud Al-Tamimi, Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, honored Professor Jassim with the college’s commemorative shield and a letter of appreciation, in recognition of his valuable contributions to the academic community.
