
The Sustainable Development Committee Hosts Meeting to Announce the Launch of the University of Diyala Award for Sustainable Development
The Sustainable Development Committee, chaired by Professor Amer Mohammad Ibrahim and attended by its members, convened its regular meeting on Sunday, March 9, 2025, to address several key topics, most notably the criteria for the University of Diyala Award for Sustainable Development, which has been officially launched by the university.
The Vice President for Scientific Affairs noted that the award is open to students, staff, and faculty. The application period will remain open until May 31, 2025, with six awards to be distributed across the aforementioned categories, ensuring representation for both male and female participants. He emphasized the importance of active engagement in this initiative. Additionally, Dr. Alaa Hassan Fahmy, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, elaborated on the discussions held during the meeting, which focused on the university’s plan to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2025. He highlighted the necessity of revising academic curricula and the organization of both national and international conferences that focus on critical issues such as environmental sustainability, climate change, and sustainable development.
