A faculty member publishes a book on Islamic literature and Orientalism
Dr. Saad Adwan Wahib, a faculty member in the Department of Arabic, College of Education, published a book entitled “Islamic Literature in Orientalist Scholars Studies.”
This book explains the concept of the Orientalism. It is stated that Orientalism is a communicative concept like any other science, aiming to benefit from and learn about the knowledge possessed by nations and peoples at the level of all human activities.
The book is composed of four chapters. The first chapter is about the concept of the Orientalists and their study issues regarding the holy Quran and Islamic literature. The second chapter talks about the Orientalists’ attitude toward Islamic poetry. The third chapter is about traditional Islamic poetry. The fourth chapter presents the Orientalists’ attitude toward Islamic prose.
