A research team from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Diyala obtains a patent. This team includes Professor Ahmed Najm Abd, Dr. Abdel Wahab Hamid Majeed, and Wassan Abdel Fattah.
The patent is about the preparation, diagnosis, and use of a new nanocomposite of oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes – tungsten oxide – poly(anthranilic acid) / epoxy in inhibiting the corrosion of low-carbon steel in a (1M) solution of hydrochloric acid. The polymeric nanocomposite was prepared from a polymer preparation of Anthranilic acid and polyanthranilic acid (PANA) formation.
The results indicated a decrease in the corrosion rate of low-carbon steel after covering it with polymeric nanocomposites. Moreover, It was also observed that corrosion rates decreased when steel was painted with polymer-epoxy.
