The Faculty of Law Discusses the Legal Protection of Homeless People

The Faculty of Law and Political Science discussed the Master's thesis, "Legal Protection of the Homeless," presented by Athraa Ahmed Hamid. The aim of the study was to explain the homelessness causes and to try to uncover the legislative deficiencies to address this phenomenon and the behaviour of the homeless people and to explain its consequences on society, with a view to understanding the phenomenon and identifying the factors that have led them to resort to the street to develop solutions and propose laws limiting them.

The study came up with a series of conclusions, the most important of which is that homelessness remains one of the major global human rights challenges, and many homeless people are subjected to serious violations of their human rights. The study recommended protecting homeless people by adopting laws and policies that outline the specific duties of national actors, assigning responsibilities among state institutions, and establishing adequate funding mechanisms.
