As His Excellency Inaugurates Its Third International Film Festival, The University President Describes the College of Fine Arts as an Outstanding Among Its Counterparts.
On Monday, the 21st of June 2021, the Third International Festival of University Cinema was held by the Faculty of Fine Arts of our University with extensive Arab and foreign participation. In his speech, during the festival, the University President Professor Dr. Abdul Monim Abbas Karim said:" Our University, through a festival sponsored by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel Sahib, seeks to enrich the cultural landscape with a demonstration that brings together academia and art with international dimensions and a serious and purposeful film culture through the creation of an annual space that embraces talent and creativity. the College of Fine Arts has become one of the most prestigious colleges in its career and has been able to take a prominent place among its counterparts in our beloved country, where there has been a steady movement of scientific research by its teaching staff, which has contributed to the rise of the line of scientific promotions for them, which will enable them to embark on the development of their graduate studies.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Alaa Shakir Mahmood, said: "From the very moment we resolved to organize the festival, we were mindful of the fact that the activities of the festival were of the same standing as our university. Therefore, we have sought to attract international participation from Egypt, Iran, Mexico, Tunisia, Morocco, Oman, and Palestine, as well as Iraqi participation.
In turn, the Captain of Artists in Iraq, Dr. Jabbar Judy, said that he was pleased to see that he had seen the organization and creativity of the participants. Art is a message about the civilization and history of societies. We thank the Presidency of the University of Diyala and the Dean of the College of Fine Arts for their warm reception and special activity.
The Chairman of the Film Screening Commission, Professor Dr. Jalil Wadi Hamoud, confirmed in announcing the results of the winning films: The number of films participating was 36. Director Haider Alaa of Iraq and director Ahmed Abdel – Hussein of Iraq shared the first prize in feature films, director Wael Ghassan of Lebanon and director Ali Kerim of Iraq.
The festival, attended by the Captain of Journalists in Diyala, Professor Sajid Al-Mahadoui, and some academic and artistic figures, featured a documentary film on the achievements of the College and a soloist of Iraqi heritage performed by the College's band.
At the end of the Festival, decrees were honoring the winners of the Festival Shield and the accolades. In the margins of the festival, Mr. Rector opened an art exhibition organized by the Department of Artistic Education.
