
University President Convenes Preparatory Committees for the Inaugural Central Sustainable Development Festival.
On Monday, June 16, 2025, the President of Diyala University, Prof. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, convened a meeting with the preparatory committees responsible for organizing the university’s first Central Sustainable Development Festival.
The meeting, attended by Vice President Prof. Amer Mohamed Ibrahim, underscored the strategic importance of aligning university initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prof. Dr. Mubarak emphasized the need to prioritize these goals across all levels of planning and implementation. He urged collaboration from governmental institutions and community organizations, encouraging them to actively participate in the festival by showcasing their contributions in agricultural and industrial development.
In his remarks, the University President called for a departure from conventional exhibition methods, advocating instead for innovative and creative approaches to ensure the festival serves as a platform for forward-thinking, sustainable solutions. He stressed the necessity of providing all required resources to reflect the university’s commitment to sustainability, including the use of environmentally friendly technologies, the promotion of sustainable practices in energy, environmental management, and the incorporation of green building concepts within the festival’s exhibitions.
The meeting also reviewed key events and activities to be presented by various university departments and units. Discussions covered the thematic selection, spatial arrangements, and presentation strategies to ensure that all contributions effectively reflect the objectives of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.
